dc.description.abstractThis dissertation is a study on the Land Tenure and Livelihood Issues in the Albertine Graben Region. This was carried out in three districts of Amuru, Bulisa and Hoima. The study specifically focused on tenurial arrangements and land transactions in the region. The ultimate outcome of this study will be enriching of literature for policy engagement and dialogue towards a comprehensive policy direction to land governance in the Albertine Graben. The study was guided by three key questions namely; how oil exploration has impacted on the land tenure and livelihoods in the Hoima and Bulisa Albertine Graben, what are the characteristics of the new land acquisitions in the Albertine Graben, and what are the legal implications of the oil exploration and the Government? and how they relate with communities? The study utilized three main methods of data collection including household surveys, key informant interviews, records review and Narratives. The household survey covered a total of 300 households in five sub-counties in the three study districts. Key informant interviews following a semi structured questionnaire were conducted for LC1 officials, Sub County Chiefs, Chairperson Area Land committee, Chairperson District Land Board and Resident District Commissioner.en_US
